John & Barbara Nevin .: 23 Tulong Road, Armidale

Ours is not a landscaped garden, about 3/4 is a mixture of naive, exotic and parklike areas. Mown paddocks with uneven surfaces mean that comfortable working shoes are in order.

In 1977 we came to a lovely block, 2.5 ha / 5 ac containing lots of beautiful gum trees. Unfortunately many of them died from the NE dieback problem.

John is very interested in growing Australian native plants so consequently our garden is very full of many varieties of bird life that feel safe enough to stay all year round.

He also likes to trial plants, for many nurserymen, in our very severe winters, down to -15oC sometimes, to see how they survive.

Many friends have given us cuttings from plants in their own gardens so that helps to make ours more interesting and friendly.

We hope you enjoy our tranquil meandering garden and those of you who visited when we were last open will be interested to see how the new plantings from then have progressed and as you will see it is still a work in progress.
