Lachlann & Sharon Ison .: 24 College Avenue, Armidale

Located in Central South Armidale near the Old Teachers' College, this garden would be best described as a "re-start" project, or works in progress! When we first purchased the property in mid-2006, over a dozen large pine trees were removed from the rear of the property, along with a number of elm trees growing closer to the house.

With the restoration of the "sunken garden", construction of a 2-piece arbour, and strategic planting of numerous trees and shrubs, the garden is now in the early stages of being returned to its former glory! Spring is of particular note with the older trees at the front of the property in full blossom and countless bulbs colouring the many garden beds.

As a new additional to the Saint Peters Garden tour, visitors will enjoy an easy stroll around this evolving garden, bounded by a number of small rock walls and contrasting vegetation. Additional features include Archie (cat), and Charlie and Chelsea (Cavaliers)!!

It is recommended that visitors park in Faulkner Street alongside the Old Teachers' College and walk through the short path (between 201 & 203)into College Avenue, although parking in the property driveway is still an option for the disabled. Our small rose garden was inspired by the magnificent gardens of the nearby Teachers' College, well worth at visit at any time of the year.
